Experience Required 

8+ Years of Post-Qualification Experience in ESG reporting, ESG implementation, sustainability management, compliance, internal controls, or related areas. 

 

Purpose of the Position 

Responsible for leading the organization’s ESG reporting, governance, compliance, and internal control framework. The role ensures accurate ESG data management, sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance, and alignment with international ESG standards. It supports sustainability and annual reporting, ESG disclosures, certifications, and strategic ESG initiatives while maintaining strong governance, internal controls, and audit readiness. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

ESG Governance & Internal Control Framework 

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously enhance the ESG internal control framework across the organization. 

  • Establish and maintain ESG policies, procedures, processes, templates, guidelines, and governance documentation. 

  • Ensure ESG controls, processes, and documentation support internal and external audits, certifications, and assurance requirements. 

  • Monitor compliance with ESG-related regulations, standards, certifications, and reporting obligations. 

ESG Data Management & Reporting 

  • Lead corporate ESG data collection, validation, consolidation, and governance activities across multiple business functions. 

  • Maintain ESG databases and reporting systems while ensuring data quality, accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness. 

  • Coordinate with business stakeholders and data owners to establish effective ESG data management processes and controls. 

  • Prepare and review ESG disclosures, sustainability reports, annual ESG reporting sections, investor ESG reports, and other stakeholder communications. 

  • Manage the complete sustainability reporting lifecycle from data collection to final publication. 

ESG Framework Implementation & Compliance 

  • Drive implementation and ongoing maintenance of global ESG frameworks and reporting standards including: 

  • GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) 

  • SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) 

  • TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) 

  • CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) 

  • ISSB (International Sustainability Standards Board) 

  • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 

  • EU Taxonomy and CSRD 

  • Relevant ISO Standards 

  • Ensure ESG reporting and processes remain aligned with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 

Risk Management & Materiality Assessment 

  • Support ESG risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation activities. 

  • Lead or contribute to double materiality assessments and ESG impact evaluations. 

  • Analyze environmental, social, governance, climate, and sustainability risks within business operations, particularly within the Oil & Gas industry. 

  • Assist management in integrating ESG risks and opportunities into strategic decision-making processes. 

Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory 

  • Act as a trusted ESG advisor to management, Board members, business leaders, and ESG teams. 

  • Support stakeholder engagement initiatives and sustainability communication strategies. 

  • Provide guidance and training to employees responsible for ESG data collection, reporting, and compliance activities. 

  • Promote ESG awareness and drive continuous improvement across business functions. 

Research & ESG Development 

  • Monitor emerging ESG regulations, reporting standards, market practices, and sustainability trends. 

  • Conduct research and benchmarking exercises related to ESG frameworks, certifications, and sustainability initiatives. 

  • Recommend improvements to ESG governance, reporting processes, data management structures, and disclosure practices. 

 

HSE Responsibilities 

  • Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Promptly report hazards, incidents, accidents, and unsafe practices. 

  • Exercise stop-work authority whenever there is an immediate risk to health, safety, or the environment. 

  • Maintain mandatory HSE training certifications and participate in refresher programs as required. 

  • Promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace culture.

  • Keeping pace with rapidly evolving ESG regulations, reporting frameworks, disclosure requirements, and sustainability best practices. 

  • Ensuring consistency, reliability, and completeness of ESG data across multiple functions and business units.

  • Supporting ESG transformation initiatives while maintaining robust governance and compliance standards. 

  • Managing ESG reporting requirements within a dynamic and highly regulated industry environment. 

 

Educational Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Management, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. 

  • Master's Degree / MBA will be an added advantage. 

  • Relevant ESG, Sustainability, Climate Risk, GRI, SASB, ISSB, or Sustainability Reporting certifications are preferred. 

 

Experience Requirements 

  • Minimum 8+ years of post-qualification experience in ESG reporting, ESG implementation, sustainability programs, governance, compliance, risk management, or related domains. 

  • Proven experience in corporate ESG data collection, ESG reporting, ESG framework implementation, and sustainability disclosures. 

  • Experience working with large organizations, multinational corporations, consulting firms, or Oil & Gas industry environments is highly preferred. 

  • Exposure to sustainability audits, external assurance reviews, and certification processes will be an advantage. 

 

Skills & Competencies 

Technical Skills 

  • Strong understanding of ESG reporting frameworks including GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, and ISSB. 

  • Knowledge of Double Materiality Assessment methodologies. 

  • Expertise in ESG data governance, ESG databases, and reporting systems. 

  • Understanding of ESG risks, climate risks, regulatory compliance, and sustainability disclosures. 

  • Familiarity with ESG metrics, KPIs, sustainability reporting lifecycle, and internal control frameworks. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SharePoint, ERP systems, and reporting tools.
