Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Continuous logging of total gas and chromatographic analysis of hydrocarbons.
- Vacuum Mud Still, Steam Still or equivalent system allowing the evaluation of true gas in mud content. Sample catching and washing with proper agents in compliance with the requirements stipulated in the Well Prognosis (unwashed, washed and dried, numbering).
- Sampling for geochemical tins and VACUTAINERS.
- Preparation of samples with proper sieves (coarse, medium and fine).
- Determination of washable fraction and Calciminer.
- Lithological examination, percentage, with classification of various elements, detection of anhydrite and salts, determination of caving.
Sampling and analysis of all fluids produced (gas, oil, water), including formation gas and gas kicks.
Observation and analysis of liquid hydrocarbon show (color, direct fluorescence and cut fluorescence).
- Characterization of any liquid hydrocarbon samples from the flow line.
- Geological evaluation of all data collected and computed by the mud logging system.
- Correlation of cuttings lithology, gas analysis and hydrocarbon evaluation to reference material provided by COMPANY.
- Immediate liaison with DS, Geologist and Drillers for evaluation of any abnormal parameters such as change in lithology, shows, oil in mud, gas peak, kick, gain or loss of mud, carvings, evolution of pore pressure, loss of mud, mud pressure, etc.
- The quality of the drilling depends on the rapid interpretation of parameter variations observed by the mud logging crew (lithology, gas, drilling, mud) and the speed of communication between the office team and the different parties concerned (Company-man, Tool-pusher, Driller, Mud-engineer and Geologist)
- Provision of daily, weekly reports (geological, hydraulic, etc...) and preparation of an up-to-date Geological Master Log.
- Provision of communication and software to receive drilling data from rig instrumentation system.
